AEM have outdone themselves with this analog wideband. The digital one was always a touch boring to look at, and it was sometimes difficult to process the digits jumping around - not any longer. With the analog gauge you can quickly find and fix a lean spot and easilly trend what the AFRs are doing across the entire RPM band. Not to mention it looks clean!

If you dont know what a wideband is, here's a quick 101. A "wideband" is capable of reporting the actual air fuel ratio of the engine based on combustion remains and can read over a large range (or a wide band if you will) from around 9:1 (air to fuel) all the way up to 20:1. An engine runs between 11:1 and 16:1 before it starts burping and missing, so the gauge is capable of measuring conditions beyond what the engine can even tolerate. The reason a wideband is crucial is because the engine can be damaged extremely quickly if the engine is run under heavy load with a lean or even an overly rich mixture. Some quick reading on the internet will teach you a lot about target AFRs and you'll be knowledgeable enough to monitor your engine at all times, and feel smarter too.
