This is our favorite racing battery. The reasons are endless but I'll list all the ones that quickly come to mind. First of all, the battery can be mounted in any position and will never leak - since there is nothing to leak. It is a drycell battery. It uses plates instead of sprial windings, so it is the most efficient use of space possible. They are light. The PC680 over a conventional battery is the easiest 25lb weight savings you've ever found. Even the little guy PC680 can crank over a high compression 3.5L V6 all day long (and likely more!!). The best thing about this battery though, kids, is that even if you fully discharge it, the thing will take a charge and be good as new. This is the biggest difference between all the other batteries I have used, and it makes all the difference! Try one, I promise you'll love it.
Manufacturer Info:
With some batteries you get hefty cranky power. With others, you get amazing deep cycle reserve power. The ODYSSEY® battery gives you both.
How do we do it? We start with flat plates that are made of 99.99% pure virgin lead. We do not use lead alloy. Lead plates made of pure lead can be made thinner so we are able to use more of them in each battery. The more battery plates used means the greater the plate surface area which then translates to an increase in power, as much as twice that of conventional batteries.
In fact, ODYSSEY batteries can provide engine cranking pulses of more than 2250 amps every 5 seconds. This is double to triple what other conventional batteries in its class provide. And this is even in lower temperatures. In addition, they are able to handle 400 charge-discharge cycles of up to 80% of the depth of discharge.
It’s this unique blending of power and performance that makes the ODYSSEY battery the ideal choice for a range of applications including marine, commercial, powersports and automotive/LTV.
Performance built to last up to 3 times longer.
ODYSSEY batteries have a design life of 8-12 years and a service life of 3 -10 years thanks to their sturdy construction and AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) design. Intercell connections that are welded allow it to stand up to extreme vibration and the acid is designed to stay in place even when it’s installed on its side. In addition, ODYSSEY batteries can be stored for up to 2 years and will still return full power when started up again.
ODYSSEY batteries: 15% more plate surface area vs. traditional spiral wound designs!
Like traditional spiral-wound batteries, ODYSSEY batteries use dry cell AGM technology to hold acid which means the battery can be installed on its side. But the design of the flat plates allows more plates to be packed into the battery avoiding the “dead space” area between cylinders in the “six-pack” design. This means there is 15% more surface plate area which means more power. ODYSSEY batteries are shipped fully charged and are ready to use straight out of the box. If the voltage of your ODYSSEY battery is more than 12.65V, install in your vehicle and you’re ready to go! If it’s below 12.65V, follow the instructions in the battery Owner’s Manual and/or Technical Manual to boost the charge. Boosting the battery will not damage it even if the voltage is greater than 12.65V.
Note:
Please select if you need the SAE Terminal adapter kit. This will allow you to use your factory terminals with the battery.
